This week we will celebrate the birth of Jesus. We all know the story of how Jesus was born. His birth was a blessing. His life, death, and resurrection changed the world, and our destiny forever. Luke 2:10-11 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. We celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25th. How do we celebrate it? We decorate our tree, our homes, and our businesses. We gather together to fellowship with family and friends. Gifts are exchanged and wonderful meals are consumed. There is something very special about the Christmas season. For most, it fills our hearts with love and joy. For others, it is a season filled with stress and anxiety. Many will suggest that the above events have nothing to do with the reason for the season. I am not so sure. Jesus taught that we should love one another. Although the season is commercialized, love can be found in the traditional events we share. We exchange gifts with our family and friends. What gift do we give to Jesus? What would Jesus like for his birthday? What could our Lord and Saviour possibly need? I believe he would be thrilled with a people that truly loved one another. Remember that love is defined not in words, but action. John 8:31-32 31 So Jesus told those Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are really my disciples. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jesus wants our love. This means accepting him into our heart. It requires us to believe. To have faith. He wants us to live the message of his ministry. He wants the will of our Heavenly Father to be done on earth; as it is in Heaven, not just at Christmas, but every day of the year. Closing prayer: Heavenly Father, we ask that you fill our hearts with love and compassion for all. We ask that you would guide us in applying that love in our daily lives. Let us live the word as Jesus intended. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen. Merry Christmas! Be blessed and be a blessing! Pastor Bill
